Shannon has designed, manufactured and installed more than 750,000 reusable, removable insulation blankets and shields for manufacturing plants, power generation facilities, universities, hospitals, oil and gas facilities and government buildings around the globe, making Shannon’s specifications in design and manufacturing the worldwide standard.

An AutoCAD designer in manufacturing plays a crucial role in the production process. Their job involves using AutoCAD software to create detailed technical drawings for manufacturing the various blankets Shannon offers.

Entry level position

Responsibilities:

Technical Drawings: Create precise and detailed drawings using AutoCAD software based on specifications, sketches, and rough drafts provided by project managers.

Product Design: Collaborate with team members to develop product designs that meet functional, aesthetic, and manufacturing requirements.

Prototype Development: Assist in the creation and refinement of prototypes, making necessary adjustments to drawings based on testing and evaluation.

Material and Process Selection: Work with materials and manufacturing process experts to select appropriate materials and techniques for the production of designed components

Quality Assurance: Ensure that drawings comply with industry standards, quality control measures, and regulatory requirements

Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized documentation of drawings, revisions, and design changes to facilitate smooth communication within the manufacturing team

Communication: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to address design issues and optimize production processes

Requirements:

Proficiency in AutoCAD

Technical Expertise: Understanding of engineering principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerances to create accurate and feasible designs

Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision and accuracy in creating technical drawings and ability to identify and resolve errors in designs

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and convey technical information

Problem-Solving Abilities: Capability to analyze design problems and propose effective solutions while considering constraints such as cost, time, and feasibility

Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt to evolving project requirements or design changes

Education and Experience: A degree in engineering, industrial design, or a related field is often preferred, along with relevant experience in manufacturing or product design.
