In-Home Aide Monday-Saturday

Employment type: Part-time to full-time


Seeking persons who live convenient to the Black Rock-Riverside, Buffalo area to assist with personal care and activities of daily living, in client’s home.

This is a long-term position: five or more hours per day, up to 7 days per week, between approximately 10am and 7pm. Schedule may be flexible to accommodate both client’s and care-providers’ needs. Evening hours may also be considered.

Customer is a 65 year-old who uses a wheelchair. They are educated, intelligent and conversant, and fully capable of directing their personal care and household needs.

Personal care assistance, such as:

- Transfers from bed to wheelchair and vice-versa.

- Bed baths and shampooing hair

- Assist with dressing and putting on compression stockings and shoes

- Reminders to take daily medications and supplements, and to refill prescriptions as needed.

Activities and Appointments

Work with client to maintain calendar of activities and appointments. Assist with:

Timely reminders of scheduled appointments, and updating calendar as needed

Help arrange for transportation to and from activities and appointments

Other Assistance:

Light housekeeping, washing dishes, sweeping floors, cleaning kitchen and bathroom, making bed, etc.

Assist with meal preparation

Change bed linens as needed

Launder clothing, bed linens, towels etc. (Laundromat is in the building).

Shop for groceries

The ideal candidate:

Has at least one year of experience in home-based, assisted living and/or nursing residence, caring for person(s) with disabilities

Is willing to participate in interview (in-person or via phone)

Will participate in brief training / orientation through Western NY Independent Living Center

Is strictly compliant with Covid-19 health and safety practices

Can provide verifiable work references

Is comfortable working with an adult male client who requires personal care assistance

Possesses the physical strength to assist client with wheelchair transfers (must be able to lift 45 pounds)

Has reliable transportation

Is dependable

Is willing to proactively communicate with client and client’s family members with any questions or concerns

Agrees to sign up with Western NY Independent Living Center “Taking Control” Consumer-Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP), if not already registered.
