FACILITIES REPRESENTATIVE

THIS IS A UNION POSITION

Facilities Representative

The Facilities Representative is responsible for conducting general maintenance, building repair and groundskeeping to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and staff.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Property Maintenance

Perform maintenance, repair and cleaning of interior finishes and features including but not limited to floors, gypsum board assemblies, stonework, metal assemblies, glazing and skylight systems.

Perform light construction, carpentry, painting and demolition in support of art exhibitions and other institutional needs.

Perform troubleshooting, routine maintenance and repair of doors, door hardware, restroom accessories, plumbing and electrical systems.

Refer to and follow operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals to perform routine maintenance and repair of systems, finishes and equipment.

Inspect grounds and common areas of all assigned buildings for cleanliness, damage and unsafe conditions. Be proactive in addressing any problems identified during inspections.

Perform outdoor maintenance including snow removal, salting, grass cutting and general care of lawns and planting beds. Operation and care of Museum owned vehicles, including Pickup (plow) truck and ATV, is required.

Assist in performance of general janitorial services within all buildings.

Assist team with inspections, repair, and preventative maintenance of HVAC systems to ensure they are operating efficiently at all times.

Empty trash, recycling and other receptacles daily or as needed.

Assist with set up and cleanup for museum events as directed by the Head of Facilities.

Employee and Patron Relations

As a primary point of contact for both employees and patrons, always act with courtesy, respect and in a friendly manner.

Listen with empathy to employee and patrons’ issues and concerns.

Safety

Follow all Museum safety requirements and participate in safety training programs.

Keep maintenance closets and storage facilities neat, orderly, and clean.

Report all unsafe conditions to the Head of Facilities. Eliminate the safety hazard with the approval of the appropriate Department Head.

Administration

Log all work performed daily including location, description of service provided, length of service, and percentage of completion.

Order janitorial, electrical, plumbing, or other supplies through the appropriate channels.

Competencies & Qualifications

High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.

2 + years relevant work experience in general maintenance.

General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry & drywall applications.

Must have and maintain a valid NYS Drivers license.

Skilled in performance of routine repairs.

Exceptional interpersonal communication abilities.

Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional internal and external customer service.

Organized self-starter and strong attention to detail.

Basic computer skills required.

Ability to work overtime as needed

Facilitates internal communication by participating in team meetings and by sharing knowledge, skills and experience with co-workers.

Uses good time management techniques

Salary $18.00 - $21.45 per hour
