Under the direction of the Shop Foreman, the responsibilities of the Powder Coater position include loading paint racks, powder coating large &small parts, placing racks in furnace booth, organizing all parts for each job, with the assistance of others. Material preparation such as media blasting, cleaning masking among other techniques is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Use powder coating booth to powder coat clean parts, assemblies, required colors.
Will be responsible to ensure that paint is sprayed evenly & within specifications.
Work includes powder coating many different shapes, sizes, metals.
Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, booth filtration & furnace.
Knowledge of work flows to operate equipment &personnel in a safe & manor.
May need to mechanically and/or chemically clean some parts before painting.
Work with others to load painting racks with components.
Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders and other hand tools related to the job’s needs.
Inspect and correct paint as necessary to meet product specifications.
Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.
Inspect equipment to maintain functional equipment if any equipment needs repairs notify supervisor/lead or maintenance personnel.
Maintain, clean and replace system filters on a routine basis.
Push heavy carts into and out of the paint booth, furnace booth.
Perform a variety of complicated tasks, as required.
Needs to securely package finished products on pallets, boxes without scratching.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiar with working in a fabrication & painting environment.
Minimum 2 years’ experience painting, powder coating strongly preferred.
Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Able to read and interpret simple instructions, colors on daily basis.
Demonstrate willingness to work with others in a team environment.
Positive, willingness to learn and participate in a changing environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED required.
Ability to effectively function in a team environment.
2 years of experience painting, preferably powder coating.
