eBay Motors Auto Parts – Trial → Partnership (70/30 Split)
Business Model: We operate an online auto parts business through eBay Motors, leveraging a just-in-time (JIT) model. Instead of holding inventory, parts are sourced immediately after a sale via Car-Part.com. This minimizes risk, reduces overhead, and ensures competitive margins. Our process depends on accuracy, speed, and strong relationships with vendors.
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated operator with hands-on experience in auto parts sourcing, interchange fitment, and eBay Motors order handling. You’ll begin on an hourly trial basis to demonstrate skill, reliability, and fit. If the trial is successful, you’ll transition into a formal partnership with profit sharing and LLC protections
Engagement Structure (2 Phases)
Phase 1 — Paid Hourly Trial
Order Fulfillment: Source parts on Car-Part.com immediately after each eBay sale.
Fitment & Compatibility: Confirm interchange using Hollander numbers, OEM references, and VIN data when available.
Vendor Communication: Call and email salvage yards, recyclers, and parts vendors to confirm condition, mileage, photos, and shipping options.
Purchasing: Negotiate pricing, confirm return policies, and secure the best option.
Documentation: Record sourcing details, supplier invoices, and tracking numbers in order logs.
Customer Assurance: Proactively communicate about delays, substitutions, or condition changes.
Objective: Build trust, confirm skills, and establish a smooth workflow before forming a long-term agreement.
Phase 2 — Formal Partnership
Business Structure: Transition into a legal LLC partnership agreement.
EIN & Account Ownership: The partner’s EIN and eBay account will be used for operational purposes.
Profit Split: 70% (Owner) / 30% (Partner) after expenses.
Agreements: Operating agreement ensures transparency, clear roles, and defined responsibilities.
Protections: Dispute resolution, buyout clauses, and financial reporting are built into the partnership.
Ongoing Operations: Continue managing sourcing, purchasing, and vendor communications, with expanded responsibilities as sales scale.
Core Responsibilities
Monitor eBay orders in real time and begin sourcing the same day.
Verify interchange/fitment using multiple tools (Car-Part, Hollander, VIN decode, OE lookups).
Negotiate with vendors for best price, shipping speed, and condition.
Maintain transparent records of sourcing, costs, and fulfillment.
Track metrics: sourcing time per order, fulfillment success rate, and return/claim percentages.
Flag and escalate high-risk purchases (inconsistent mileage, wrong interchange, poor vendor reputation).
Ideal Qualifications
Industry Knowledge: Background in auto parts (salvage yard, retail store, wholesale supplier, or repair shop).
Technical Skills: Experienced with Car-Part.com, eBay seller tools, interchange systems, and order tracking.
Fitment Expertise: Strong grasp of part numbers, compatibility across years/makes/models, and common interchange pitfalls.
Reliability: Detail-oriented, organized, and consistent in communication.
Soft Skills: Comfortable on the phone negotiating with salvage yards and confirming vendor reliability.
Bonus Skills: Freight/LTL experience, knowledge of common return policies, and familiarity with large parts handling (engines, transmissions, body panels).
Compensation
Phase 1 (Trial): Paid hourly at [Enter range, e.g., $18–$25/hr], weekly payments.
Phase 2 (Partnership): 70/30 profit split after expenses, with open-book accounting and regular payouts.
