What we are looking for:
Experienced laborers who are reliable team players and are excited about contributing to our continued work building Buffalo, which has earned us a stellar reputation in the industrial and commercial concrete contracting industry for the past 72 years.
Key responsibilities and tasks:
Excavation: Digging trenches to the required depth and dimensions, using heavy machinery such as excavators or backhoes.
Site Preparation: Prepare the site by leveling the ground, removing debris, and ensuring proper drainage to prevent water accumulation.
Formwork Installation: Set up formwork, which serves as a mold for pouring concrete. Assemble and position the forms according to direction of the superintendent, ensuring they are sturdy and properly aligned.
Concrete Pouring: Assist with pouring and spreading concrete into the designated area. Use tools such as shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows to distribute the concrete evenly and eliminate air pockets.
Reinforcement Installation: Install reinforcement materials such as rebar or wire mesh to add strength to the concrete foundation.
Finishing Work: After the concrete has been poured and cured may perform finishing work such as smoothing the surface, removing excess material, and applying sealants or waterproofing coatings as necessary.
Cleanup and Maintenance: Throughout the construction process, responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area. They remove waste materials, debris, and unused equipment to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Physical Requirements: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is exposed to wet, cold, heat, quickly changing conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat.
