Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Assisting Masons: Work closely with skilled masons to support them in various tasks throughout the construction process. This may include preparing materials, mixing mortar, and transporting bricks, blocks, or stones to the work area.
Material Preparation: Before construction begins, help prepare the materials needed for the project. This may involve cutting bricks or stones to size, sorting and organizing materials, and ensuring that all necessary tools and equipment are readily available.
Mixing Mortar: Mix mortar according to specific ratios and consistency requirements. They may operate mixing machines or manually mix mortar using shovels and wheelbarrows, ensuring that the mortar is well-blended and ready for use.
Cleaning and Maintenance: Responsible for keeping the work area clean and organized. This includes removing excess mortar, debris, and waste materials, as well as cleaning tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good condition.
Supporting Safety Practices: Maintain a safe work environment. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any hazards or concerns to supervisors promptly.
Physical Requirements: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is exposed to wet, cold, heat, quickly changing conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat.
