Yoga Vida Farms
Yoga Vida Farms will demonstrate healthy living through its organic farm, fresh food, and its yoga programming. We aim to build a culture of wellness through managing a healthy soil and revitalizing our bodies with fresh food. The farm consists of a 3-acre vegetable field, a 3,000 square foot greenhouse for propagation, a compost system, a small apiary, and a small flock of laying hens. A small orchard also exists on the property. All produce will be used to support retreats on the weekends. The goal is to produce the majority of the food needed to feed guests and staff from the farm. Food preservation, fermentation, and related-experimental projects will be encouraged.
Food Prep & Dishwasher
The food prep and dishwashing assistant will assist in kitchen and dishwashing production for the retreat center. This includes three meals per day. The clientele will range from yoga and wellness enthusiasts to corporate groups. Most food will be vegetarian. He or she will work closely with the Executive Chef and assist in all food production, which includes prepping items for weekly retreats, keeping the kitchen clean and organized, and washing pots, pans, and dinnerware during food preparation. As a member of a dynamic team, he or she will assist in creating an enthusiastic learning environment to support the companys mission and organizational health. The schedule will largely be Wednesday or Thursday through Sunday.
Responsibilities
The essential responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.
Assist with all food production in the kitchen, such as food preparation and cleaning, cooking, and baking.
Manage dishwashing of pots, pans, and dinnerware during weekly retreats.
Assist to manage cleanliness and organization of one kitchen and two walk-in coolers.
Assist with receiving and putting away weekly food orders.
Qualifications
At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
Willingness to be apart of a small, dynamic team of farmers, housekeepers, and chefs.
Passion for cooking food.
Strong knowledge of sanitation and cleanliness.
Knowledge of kitchen equipment use and safety.
Cooperative, service-oriented attitude and ability to work independently and take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completion.
Compensation and Application
Compensation is commensurate with experience. This position will begin as a full-time, hourly position beginning between $15/hr to $20/hr depending on experience with opportunity to transition to a competitive salary.
