About the Catskill Mountain Foundation

The Catskill Mountain Foundation (CMF) is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to arts, culture and educational enhancements in the Northern Catskills. The goals of the CMF are to create a multi-art center on the Mountain Top Area of Greene County and to engage in other activities that will create a culturally enriched environment in the Northern Catskills. The CMF offers programming on a year-round basis in the visual, performing, film and literary arts. Through the piano performance museum exhibits and educational programs, exhibitions of fine arts and fine crafts, performances of classical music, ballet, folk and contemporary dance, family performances, popular music performances, classes and workshops in fine arts and fine crafts, and literary programs the CMF serves artists in the Catskill Region and beyond and audiences from Greene County and the surrounding counties of the Catskill Region. Since it began eighteen years ago, the CMF has been involved in Main Street Revitalization projects in three villages on the Mountain Top to house its growing arts programs. In the Village of Hunter: The Doctorow Center for the Arts, which opened in 2007, includes the Evelyn Weisberg Performance Hall which seats 180, the Piano Performance Museum, three movie screens for showing Independent and Foreign Films, Childrens Films and The Best of Hollywood; CMF Administrative Offices, and Regional Guide Magazine. Hunter Village Sq.: which houses the Fine Arts and Fine Crafts Gallery and Craft Shop, the Literary Arts Center and Bookstore, and kitchen and dining hall for artists in residence and artists' housing, In the Village of Tannersville: The Orpheum Film and Performing Arts Center which was completed and opened to the public in the summer of 2011, seats 250; in the Village of Maplecrest: The Sugar Maples Center for Arts and Education houses the CMF fine arts and crafts teaching program, and natural agriculture farm and artists' housing.

Part-Time Assistant to the Director of Performing Arts

The Catskill Mountain Foundation seeks an individual to fill the position of part-time Assistant to the Director of Performing Arts. This position will support the Director and assist with office, administrative and events management duties. The individual in this position will work closely with the Director to enhance her effectiveness by providing personalized secretarial and administrative support in a well-organized and timely manner.

This is a part-time, 2 day/week position based in the Catskill Mountain Foundations Doctorow Center for the Arts in the Village of Hunter, NY. Performances and other events take place both in the Doctorow Center Weisberg Concert Hall, the Piano Performance Museum and the CMF Orpheum Film and Performing Arts Center located in nearby Tannersville, NY.

Job Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Performing Arts, the individual filling this position will be responsible for:

assisting the Director of Performing Arts with all performances and related events including box office, and arrangements with performing and other artists;

assisting the Director of Performing Arts and CMF Residency Coordinator with artist groups in residence, the Hunter-Tannersville Elementary School Summer Performing Arts School;

assisting the Director of Performing Arts with Piano Performance Museum programs;

assisting the Director of Performing Arts with the administration of performing arts programs including grants, marketing and related duties

Qualifications for the position

Previous experience working at an art center or another type of not-for-profit or business that serves the public and/or artists

Excellent writing skills

Fluency with Microsoft Works

Box office or other sales or bookeeping experience

Personable demeanor and desire to work with the public and with artists

Good planning and time management skills

Associate or Bachelors Degree

Ability to work independently

Attention to detail

Strong ability to communicate effectively, with sincerity and clarity

Good interpersonal and collaboration skills
