Resort Grounds Supervisor

Job Title: RESORT GROUNDS SUPERVISOR

Department: Landscaping and Grounds

Reports To: Operations Manager

Rate of Pay: To Be Determined

Variable Shifts; Must be available weekends and holidays

Shift: Full-Time, Year Round

SUMMARY

Lead grounds, landscaping and snow removal duties around the Resort. Create a positive sense of cleanliness, organization, and overall effectiveness of the Pine Ridge Dude Ranch grounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain walkways, pathways, existing natural foliage and parking spaces, by providing pruning, weeding, weed wacking, and trash removal services from such areas and ensure that grounds are maintained to the Higher Standard and 5 Star level.

Execute seasonal plan for landscaping implementing water conservation guidelines and schedule for grounds.

Ensure the hotel property is clean, safe and free of rubbish at all times.

Inspect and monitor projects.

Training colleagues on all tools, equipment and procedures.

Administer the acquisition, distribution and use of tools, equipment and

supplies.

Assist with warranty issues on equipment and service provided.

Conduct pre-shift meetings with crew and assign projects and tasks for the day.

Create and post grounds crew schedule every week.

Prune and trim trees and shrubs.

May operate weed wacker, blower, push mower, riding mower and tractors.

Use native and drought tolerant plants for landscaping.

Identify dead and dying trees for removal.

Ensure that flower barrels and beds are watered adequately.

Maintain lawn areas.

Monitor storm drains.

Keep garbage container areas clean, organized, and safe.

Ensure public, exterior trash containers are regularly emptied at key times of the day.

Gather trash from the refuse containers around the Resort with help of grounds crew and housekeeping.

Pick up litter throughout the day.

Monitor and aid trash compactor usage.

Ensure ice melt is stocked for the season and used as needed.

Snow Removal on steps, decks, patios and pathways throughout Resort areas, shoveling & snow blower operation, plow truck operation.

Drive Pine Ridge vehicles on and off Pine Ridge property as needed.

Minimize idling time for equipment including but not limited to lawnmowers, snow blowers, etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Complete all applicable paperwork for the above responsibilities and submit to HR in a timely manner.

DRESS CODE

Pine Ridge Dude Ranch recognizes the impact that our image has on the guest's impression of the resort and the perception of our ability to provide professional service to our clientele. As representatives of Pine Ridge Dude Ranch all employees including mangers are expected to be in compliance with the Dress Code determined for his/her department as defined in the job description or follow the standards below.

In order to best promote a positive, professional image that meets Pine Ridge guest's expectations, employees are required to dress in a professional, conservative fashion that is appropriate for their area. Please use the following as a minimum standard:

All aspects of the Personal Appearance policy (Handbook #4) must be in compliance.

All staff are required to wear nametags at all times while on duty.

Clothing must be unwrinkled, clean, and in good condition

Tank tops are prohibited.

Bare midriffs are prohibited.

Oversize, slogan tee shirts are prohibited.

Proper footwear for your department is required.

As with clothing, all footwear must be in clean, good condition.

Flip flops are prohibited in all areas.

If your department allows baseball caps, they must be in good condition and have appropriate Pine Ridge logos.

If your department allows t-shirts, they must be in good condition and have appropriate Sundance logos.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; and a minimum of 3-5 year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers' License in good standing as determined by Sundance's Insurance Company guidelines.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read a limited number of two and threesyllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences in English and Spanish to effectively communicate with co-workers and guests.
