Req Number 148652FlexStaff is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to join our client's team, a leading manufacturer of optics technology for the defense, aerospace and commercial industries.This is a full-time, direct hire position, located ONSITE in Suffolk County, NY.The Plant Manager is responsible for the manufacturing and operational performance of the site including production, supply chain management, quality management and facilities; partnering with sales, engineering, HR and accounting functions within Deer Park facility. The ideal candidate is a leader with an entrepreneurial mindset that has a strong background in operations and engineering and can grow with the organization. This role is very hands-on and will have daily interactions on the production floor.Reporting to the COO, the Plant Manager will have people management responsibility for Quality, Production, and Supply Chain Management, (about 25 people) and will partner closely with the support functions that report to functional leaders outside of the facility. Total site headcount: 40.REQUIREMENTS

BS and/or MS in Engineering with at least 8 years of related experience in a high technology custom production environment is essential.

Ideally experience in optics and opto-mechanical systems, tools, and design. Hands-on experience and understanding of optical components or assemblies or related high precision products.

Experience working in a matrix organization is preferred

Technical experience as a plus (not required)

Experience with optical tests such as interferometers, beam profilers, and metrology.

Understanding of optical concepts such as ray aberrations, waves, diffraction, interference, Gaussian propagation, lasers, imaging, Interferometry etc.

Knowledge of Ansys and ray tracing a plus.

Able to analyze and synthesize complex or diverse information. Collect and research data. Use mathematical and statistical analysis tools to formulate conclusions and data-driven decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIESOperations

Comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing environment and agility to handle changing conditions affecting the business.

Customer focused leadership driving the performance of end to end manufacturing.

Deep experience with ERP systems and applications

Ensure that all aspects of the business are engaged in continuous improvement, regulatory and legal compliance as well as the highest standards of quality and safety.

Review and mitigate risks to the business.

Responsible for overseeing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and initiatives within the organization.

Proactively identifying talent and skill gaps, as well as facilitating their development.

Cost Control

Responsible for the financial and operational target and productivity including cost of quality of manufacturing and engineering.

Understand and deploy the strategy, policies, and financial metrics

Management

Work with the business development and sales team to generate and evaluate new opportunities.

Represent operations and production in cross-functional product creation teams.

Represent and be a key decision maker in relevant interactions with customers, suppliers, and key industry resources.

Participate in Sales and Operations Planning to represent Deer Park facility.
