Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Elmira College was the first college to offer a comprehensive curriculum for women, and is home of the Center for Mark Twain Studies. We are seeking a Part-Time Mental Health Counselor to join the Clarke Counseling team.The primary function of the Part-Time Counselor is to provide both direct clinical support to the campus community. Working in conjunction with departments and divisions campus wide, the Part-Time Counselor facilitates growth and skill building at both the macro and micro level through collaboration of staff and students, and direct clinical service delivery to the student population.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvision of direct counseling support and services to the student population of the college.Engages in crisis intervention, referral, and case management services as need merits or dictates.Works collaboratively across campus and with all divisions within the college to promote and actualize the vision and mission of the institution, strengthen the organizational culture, and empower the system as a whole to function at the highest levels possible.Facilitates training to various stakeholders within the campus community on a variety of topics, including, but not limited to, crisis intervention, risk assessment, team building, communication, achievement motivation, and clinical skill building.QUALIFICATIONSA Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology (with license) or a MSW and New York State licensure are required (a LCSWR is preferred).Expertise in the provision of clinical services to college-age clients.Mastery of counseling techniques and strategies in effectively addressing Axis I and Axis II diagnoses, but most especially chronic stress and trauma, depression, substance abuse, disordered eating, suicidal tendencies and self-harming behaviors, LGBTQ, and family of origin issues.Demonstrated ability to use discretion, good judgment and maintain confidentiality.Knowledge and skill in academic advising and career counseling is beneficial.WORK LOCATION: On-site (NOT REMOTE)COMPENSATION: $50.00 an hourThis position is non-benefit eligible.
