We have two great restaurants on the same campus with a great courtyard in between (summer season is awesome here!).
Rye is the primary restaurant: an 'upscale pub' with a great candle-lit dining room and beautiful bar. Nights only, currently open just Wednesday through Sunday, we are known for our craft cocktails, cared-for food, and friendly welcome. We are locally known for great salads and vegetables as well as how we pick and care for our proteins.
Sunday brunch is one of our best meals of the week and is the best in town!
Across the courtyard is our second restaurant: the Garage. The Garage is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch and we are getting ready to launch PIZZA at night (in our wood fired pizza oven) along with Elmira's only Tequila and Mezcal bar! We serve Forty Weight coffee, house-made pastries and desserts, along with breakfast and lunch sandwiches until 4pm.
What we are looking for: cooks who are passionate about food. People who contribute, get along with others, are able to work with others' ideas and add to them. Food geeks who practice technique at home, study the greats alongside the innovators.
Most of all, people who care about coming to work and contributing to the general success of those around them.
Our base salary for cooks is $20/hour (after a trial period: come to work regularly and just be a good person) with regular salary increases based on performance and longevity BUT if you are a sunday brunch only cook, we want to pay you $25/hour (after a trial period to prove yourself). Brunch is our strongest meal and we are willing to invest in someone coming in for it specifically.
We DO have room for a full-time cook but this ad is specifically aimed at someone who wants (WANTS, cares about, shows up for) a good strong extra shift as a break from wherever else you are cooking at.
