Description:Southern Westchester BOCES is a Technology Service Provider for the various school districts throughout Westchester and Rockland Counties. Currently BOCES supports the student and teacher technologies within 40+ school districts. In addition, BOCES has a centralized support team that provides infrastructure, telecommunications, systems, and service desk support to their clients. Each district is comprised of a team of junior network specialists, network specialist, high level technical leads and a manager. This team contributes to the software and hardware troubleshooting of equipment which includes but is not limited to: Chromebooks, PCs, Windows Devices, Smart Boards, iPads, and various other classroom technologies. Having prior experience troubleshooting classroom technologies is a plus. This candidate will report to a Managed Information Technology team lead who supports the district and its staff members. In addition to having strong technical skills and foundational IT knowledge, candidates will need to have excellent communication and inter-personal skills. The environment will require this person to work well with end users of the school district as well as district executives such as the Director of Technology. Under the general supervision of a higher-level network support position, an incumbent of this class is responsible for administering and coordinating a municipality’s or school district's local and wide area computer network and operating systems. This position provides daily hands-on technology support to a single school district where the primary function is to perform high level repair to all network/technology problems. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the response to service calls from municipal or school buildings and offices and troubleshoots problems on the network and/or over the phone. Incumbents are expected to exercise independent judgement in the performance of duties. Supervision can be exercised over positions responsible for providing technical support for the installation and maintenance of computers, computer networks and their operating systems within a district as well as coordinating and oversight of subcontractor activities and other service providers within the school district.
