The ideal employee should display readiness to diagnose equipment failures and have the skills to repair equipment in accordance with the Johnson Equipment safety standards for all of the equipment assigned to the Leonard's Express Farmington terminal. The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:Troubleshoots and repairs electrical trailer malfunctionsUtilizes gauges, special tools and specialized equipment to diagnose mechanic failure and problems, can operate shop equipmentPerforms minor repairs utilizing basic welding processesRepairs trailer doors and hingesCompletes wheel alignment installs and balance wheelsConstructs, maintains or services shop equipment when necessaryFollows all safety protocols to include wearing protective gear and maintain a clean and safe work environmentProvides quality repairs and achieves time per repair standardsMaintains compliance to parts proceduresExperience with wall repair, skins and door replacementReplaces mud flaps, hangers, mirrors, and shocksAdjusts brakes, replace linings, drums, cams and bushingsPerforms other related duties as assignedBased on the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, the Trailer Technician should have a number of professional skills and abilities:Good interpersonal and customer service skills. Provide positive interaction with peers, leaders and internal customersSound organizational, records management, time management skills, and attention to detailThe ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities, meet assigned deadlines, and manage the related stressHave the desire to learn shop procedures and technical information, take initiativeBased on the technical and professional responsibilities of the position, the Trailer Technician is required to have:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Minimum of 2 years’ experience with 53/48 equipment with component training certifications or trailer tech certificationsWorking knowledge of suspension system including air bagsQualified on various welding practices such as MIG welding, TIG welding, arc welding, and gas weldingOwn basic set of toolsBrake certification, Johnson Equipment can provideMust have a valid driver’s licensePhysical and manual dexterity skillsThe Trailer Technician is primarily located work environment with moderate to loud noise levels. Physical requirements include:Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistanceMust be on time for all scheduled shifts and work all scheduled days. Provide proper notice and reason in case you are unable to work all scheduled days.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
