Req Number 126638Job DescriptionAssists Cardiologist in performing phased array Echocardiography. Trained in all other procedures.Job Responsibility

Prepares patient and equipment for procedure.

Reviews Echocardiogram requisition as ordered by Cardiologist.

Notifies Nursing Unit of scheduled patient exam and coordinates time and transport of patient to exam room.

Positions patient on examination table for optimum testing procedure and conditions.

Explains procedures in layman terms to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety.

Makes settings on machines to obtain desired results, using technical judgment and following established standards.

Monitors patient condition by direct observation to recognize and report abnormalities to the Radiologist.

Performs minor repairs and adjustments of equipment when necessary.

Documents efficiency of equipment to ensure quality control.

Troubleshoots mechanical problems of the equipment by performing minor repairs, as necessary.

Recognizes and reports major problems to management for resolution.

Performs related duties, as required.

ADA Essential FunctionsJob Qualification

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Physics and familiarity with pertinent medical/surgical diseases as normally acquired by the completion of a Bachelors Degree, required.

Graduation from an AMA approved Ultrasound training program.Current New York State certification as Diagnostic Sonographer, preferred.

Registry eligible by National Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
