Summary

The Omega Café is an independent facility within the Omega FoodWorks Dept. The Omega Café provides a welcoming, shared space where participants, staff, faculty and the public can gather, enjoy light meals, snacks, and beverages. The Café also offers space for workshops and special events to meet and is host to book signings, concerts, and craft fairs.

The Shift Coordinator (Shift-Co) is responsible for overseeing the overall flow of the shift, the coordination of work among the staff, and ensuring that standards of presentation and customer service are being met.

Create an environment of compassionate service, welcoming guests with warmth and genuine hospitality

Follow and enforce New York State Department of Health codes, as well as all H.A.C.C.P. regulations for storage and cooling

Oversee and support Café production and maintenance in all areas

Maintain and operate Point-of-Sale system, including updating new items into system

Open and/or close Café.

Manage the cash drawer and prepare deposits

Train new staff

Assign tasks to staff

Train café staff.

Maintain effective and thorough communication with café leadership team

Maintain presentation and ensure accurate signage of retail items

Ensure that regular weekly and monthly deep cleaning assignments are complete and meeting standards

Assist staff members in guest interactions

Assist in all areas of Café production, including an active participation in carrying out the duties of individual staff- making drinks, plating and serving, wiping tables, doing dishes, as needed

Maintain an active knowledge of all aspects of the menu, including providers, ingredients, and available choices

Provide welcoming and expedient service to all patrons

Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications

Knowledge of café environment, retail food trends and plant-based menus

Timely, reliable, and service oriented individual

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Ability to work comfortably in fast paced environment

Team player

Alignment with Omegas mission, goals, and core values

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally

Ability to stand for long periods regularly

Ability to navigate a hilly campus in diverse weather conditions
