Full-Time Cook

Position Title: Full-Time Cook

Reports to: Cafe Manager / Owner

Employment Type: Full-time

Schedule: [Weekdays, Weekends, and holidays]

Job Overview:

Full-Time Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals according to the Cafe menu and recipes. The role requires a deep understanding of food preparation techniques, kitchen safety standards, and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment. The Full-Time Cook must be able to work well under pressure, as the position often involves handling multiple orders at once while ensuring food quality, portion control, and presentation.

Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Cooking:

Prepare and cook food to order based on the cafe's recipes and customer preferences.

Follow all recipes and portion guidelines to ensure consistency and quality.

Operate kitchen equipment, including stoves, ovens, fryers, grills, and blenders, in accordance with safety standards.

Maintain Kitchen Organization & Cleanliness:

Keep workstations, kitchen tools, and cooking equipment clean, organized, and sanitized at all times.

Regularly clean kitchen areas such as countertops, cutting boards, and floors.

Follow proper food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., proper food storage, temperature control, handling, etc.).

Assist in inventory management, including stocking and organizing food supplies.

Quality Control & Presentation:

Ensure all food served meets the cafe's standards for quality, taste, and presentation.

Check the freshness of ingredients before preparing dishes.

Present dishes attractively and according to the restaurant’s aesthetic guidelines.

Time Management & Multitasking:

Prepare orders efficiently and on time, even during busy periods.

Manage cooking tasks and prioritize orders based on customer demand.

Work with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth coordination of orders.

Collaboration & Communication:

Assist with the training of new kitchen staff and help maintain a positive team environment.

Address and resolve any food-related issues or complaints quickly and professionally.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Adhere to food safety standards and regulations, including safe handling, preparation, and storage of food.

Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and used safely.

Regularly check food temperatures to ensure compliance with health codes.

Additional Tasks:

Assist with menu development and offer suggestions for new dishes or ingredients.

Help with the preparation of ingredients in advance as needed.

Occasionally assist with catering or off-site events if applicable.
