We would like to find a good female candidate with caregiving experience to rent a room for a reduced rate in a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom mobile home in Walden My husband's mother is an active 90 year old AfroAmerican woman, very good natured, happy go lucky, loves to laugh and dance and whose pastimes are watching tv, listening to Frank Sinatra and cooking. She also has medical marijuana status and enjoys smoking to offset her arthritic pain. The smoke can travel though out the home so please do not apply if you have an issue with marijuana smoke. She is capable of her own self care, and cooking but we notice some slipping of memory and would like to have someone living there who can "keep an eye on her" and provide some companionship. We live 25 minutes away in New Paltz.
We would like to have someone to live-in who would be responsible for part time duties to regularly insure her
bedroom and ensuite bathroom are kept clean, bed linens changed as needed, garbage put out, and kitchen and fridge and propane stove kept clean. There is a washer and dryer in the home to do laundry.
The ideal candidate can work in addition to this part time commitment which could be as little as 3- 4 hours a week. In addition to the above duties IF the caregiver/ companion could take her shopping for groceries or to Dr. Appointments that currently the family are doing then rent or compensation per job would be negotiated depending on what services could be provided. If you have a small pet dog (or cat) that would be perfect She moved here from South Carolina and misses her puppy!
We currently have a small room vacant and a larger room will be available April 1st. These 2 rooms are at the opposite end of the mobile home with a newly renovated bathroom in between them. The Mobile Home Park Sleepy Hollow is quiet and rural with friendly neigbours and it is on a dead end road. There is a lovely covered deck and BBQ as well. The smaller room is set up with a loft bed and small table, chair and book case with a closet but we can put a regular twin bed in the room. The larger room at the end
of the home has an electric twin bed with a capacity to to raise the head or foot and it has a desk. and closet as well. You would have full use of the living room /dining room area since Rosa mostly enjoys watching her TV in her bedroom. Look forward to hearing from you !
We would require references, back ground and credit check. The rent for the small room is $400 and the larger room is $600.
In addtion security deposit equal to rent but negotiable.Rent would be reduced according to how much help would be offered. We would ideally like to rent both rooms to offset rent of the home ($1700) and utilities ($800) but are willing to see who replies and what they might prefer. Everything is included, heat, electricity, trash, wifi. She has cable and probably a secondary TV could be added without additional charge.
