Part-time studio manager for floral design company

The Studio Manager will work under our Operations Director and Design Director and alongside our design team to make sure our events run smoothly and efficiently. We’re looking for an organizational guru with a can-do attitude to join Heart & Soil as an essential team member.

Tasks include:

-Keeping track of inventory going in and out

-Keeping the studio organized, efficient, and tidy

-Selling old/unused inventory via facebook marketplace, IG, or other.

-Managing Monday clean up duties post wedding weekend. This includes cleaning candle holders and vases, separating trash, recycling, and compostables, washing buckets, packing vases and candle holders back into storage, sweeping, and tidying.

-Pulling exact counts of vases and candleholders out of storage for upcoming weddings

-Driving to different farms on Wednesdays or Thursdays to pick up flowers for the upcoming weekend events

-Processing incoming flowers to get them ready for arranging

-Delivering small event drop-off orders to venues, or assisting on bigger weddings (driving van to and from venue, unpacking hard goods, setting up candles on reception tables, tidying, assisting designers, making sure team is hydrated and fed)

-Managing event breakdowns (with a team to assist depending on size of event). This includes driving a van to and from the venue to collect all rented vases, candle holders, and hard goods and safely packing, breakdown of larger floral installations, and separating out compostables, trash, and recycling.

-Assisting garden manager with occasional weeding/watering/harvesting tasks.

The ideal candidate:

-Is an independent worker i.e. can manage their own schedule and foresee needs instead of requiring a daily to do list

-Thinks creatively to solve problems

-Works well under pressure/with deadlines

-Is self-motivated to work quickly, efficiently, and accurately

-Is positive and enthusiastic

-Has the ability to see the big picture while paying close attention to detail

-Is clean and organized

-Has the physical ability to work all day on your feet and lift 40 lbs

-Has a valid drivers license, clean driving record, and is comfortable driving a cargo van

-Has basic computer and spreadsheet skills

-Has the desire to become a part of the team, help the business grow, and stay with us for more than one season.

Hours

This position is 3-4 days a week. Usually Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays, Saturdays and occasional Sundays. Because we are an event- based company, days of the week may occasionally vary, so we are hoping for some flexibility with advanced notice. Very occasional late night breakdowns. This runs March-October, with the possibility of staying on over the slow winter season at reduced hours.

Compensation

$22/hour with Workers' Compensation, Unemployment Insurance, and Paid Sick Leave.

Please understand, this is not a flower arranging position.

If interested, please send a cover letter, resume, and two references. We are excited to meet you!
