Founded in 1980 by a mother whose child was abducted, Child Find of America is the nation’s oldest missing children’s organization. Today, we provide free, nationally available services to prevent and resolve child abduction and the family conflict that can lead to child abuse, child abduction and runways, thus ensuring a brighter future for children and families in need.
Position Overview
Child Find of America, is seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to guide us into an exciting new chapter. Located in the scenic Mid-Hudson Valley, and convenient to NYC and Albany, we offer a unique opportunity to lead a mission-driven organization with a legacy of transforming lives for over four decades.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will oversee our strategic vision, financial health, program innovation, and day-to-day operations, all while championing our mission to protect children and strengthen families. Key Responsibilities:
As the Executive Director of Child Find of America, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization's future while upholding its vital mission of ensuring child safety, promoting child resilience, reuniting families, and transforming lives. Key areas of responsibility include:
Strategic Leadership and Vision
· Lead the organization in developing and executing a forward-thinking strategic plan, expanding awareness of existing programs, and identifying new opportunities to serve children and their families.
· Spearhead efforts to grow, expand, and diversify Child Find’s mission-aligned initiatives, such as our education and training program.
· Retain and expand critical partnerships with allied agencies and professionals.
Board Governance and Development
· Partner with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance, including recruiting and onboarding new members to support strategic initiatives.
· Lead Board development efforts to enhance organizational leadership and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
· Recruit new Board of Directors members with experience in Finance, HR and Fundraising to enhance governance, provide strategic oversight, and strengthen organizational capacity.
Staff Leadership and Development
· Mentor and inspire an experienced, professional, and self-directed staff of six, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work culture.
· Assess existing operations and processes, providing fresh perspectives while respecting the organization’s strong foundation and mission.
· Empower staff by supporting professional growth and facilitating promotions and the onboarding of additional team members.
Financial Oversight and Sustainability
· Oversee a $700K budget ensuring sound financial management and alignment with Child Find’s mission and strategic priorities, while driving organizational growth and innovation.
· Lead efforts to expand the donor base by designing impactful fundraising campaigns, donor development, securing grants, and maintaining Child Find’s outstanding ratings on: GuideStar (Candid), Encompass, and Charity Watch.
Program Development and Expansion
· Build and scale advanced initiatives, such as Child Find’s education program for allied professional, leveraging its potential as a source of program revenue
· Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while exploring new avenues to expand services and impact.
· Represent Child Find of America at local, regional, and national meetings to raise awareness of its services and networking to establish strategic partnerships and collaborations, further enhancing the successful pursuit of grant opportunities.
Advocacy and Outreach
· Act as the public face of Child Find of America, advocating for the organization’s mission and expanding its visibility among key stakeholders.
· Establish and nurture relationships within the child and family services sector, positioning Child Find as a trusted and influential leader in the field.
Key Qualifications
We are seeking a leader who shares a commitment to Child Find’s mission and is skilled in nonprofit management. The ideal candidate will bring:
· A minimum of 4 years of senior-level nonprofit leadership experience, with a track record of innovation and growth.
· Strong fundraising expertise, including expanding donor bases, identifying new grant opportunities, and securing major gifts.
· A visionary mindset with the ability to translate strategic goals into actionable plans.
· Proven success in building partnerships, fostering board development, and driving strategic planning.
· Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to inspire stakeholders and elevate our brand.
· A working knowledge of, or experience in all or some of the fields related to our mission, such as child safety, missing/at-risk youth, ACEs, alternative conflict resolution, domestic violence, parenting education, or family services, is highly desirable.
· Experience in financial management, budgeting, and operations.

Compensation and Benefits
· Competitive Starting Salary: $95,000–$115,000/year, based on experience.
