Building Compliance Specialist - Property Management

RJ Block Management is a professional real estate management company located in Suffern, NY. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, self-starter to join our team as a Compliance Specialist. This role plays a key part to ensuring our NYC properties meet all regulatory requirements. You’ll track violations, manage deadlines, coordinate with teams, and stay on top of the changing city regulations. A “can-do” attitude and strong organizational skills are a must.

Key Responsibilities:

- Monitor and ensure compliance with NYC building codes, laws, and regulations for all client properties.

- Maintain detailed spreadsheets for each building, tracking required building inspections, deadlines, and compliance tasks.

- Use compliance software to monitor and manage violations levied against client properties.

- Coordinate with property managers, vendors, and legal teams to resolve violations and ensure timely dismissals.

- Conduct regular audits of client properties to identify potential compliance risks and address them proactively.

- Stay up-to-date on changes to NYC regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.

- Prepare and submit required reports, documentation, and filings to NYC agencies as needed.

Qualifications:

- Ideal candidate will have some experience in building compliance, property management, or NYC-based real estate.

- Familiarity with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB), Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and other relevant agencies is a plus.

- Strong knowledge of NYC building codes and inspection requirements.

- Experience using compliance software or databases to track violations and manage cases.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines simultaneously.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management tools.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.

- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
