About Us
Our operations include full-service crushing plants where we process various types of stone materials to meet client specifications. Our commitment to operational excellence, safety, and efficiency drives us to deliver top-tier service and maintenance. We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Technician with expertise in stone crushing and screening equipment, as well as hands-on experience in crushing plant operations, to join our dedicated team.
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Diesel Technician to perform advanced maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and operational support on heavy-duty stone crushing and screening equipment within a crushing plant environment. This includes jaw crushers, cone crushers, impact crushers, vibrating screens, and related aggregate machinery. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem-solver with a strong mechanical background, specialized knowledge in stone processing equipment, and practical experience in operating and optimizing crushing plants to ensure smooth production flows and minimal downtime.
Responsibilities
Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered stone crushing and screening equipment, including jaw crushers, cone crushers, impact crushers, vibrating screens, scalpers, and associated conveyors and feeders.
Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules to optimize equipment performance, extend machinery lifespan, and prevent unexpected breakdowns in high-volume crushing plant operations.
Troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems specific to crushing and screening equipment, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools, OEM service manuals, and computerized systems.
Inspect equipment for wear and damage, focusing on high-wear components such as crusher liners, jaws, mantles, screen media, conveyor belts, rollers, and idlers; recommend and execute timely repairs or replacements to maintain operational efficiency.
Ensure proper calibration, adjustment, and setup of crushing and screening equipment to achieve precise stone size gradations, throughput rates, and output quality standards in accordance with crushing plant production goals.
Assist in the daily operation of the crushing plant, including starting up and shutting down equipment, monitoring performance during production runs, adjusting settings for optimal material flow, and responding to operational issues in real-time to maximize productivity.
Collaborate closely with supervisors, operators, and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime, troubleshoot production bottlenecks, and implement improvements for enhanced crushing plant efficiency.
Maintain detailed service records, including digital work orders, parts inventory usage, maintenance logs, and operational reports, to support data-driven decisions and compliance with industry regulations.
Adhere to strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and hazard assessments, particularly when working in active crushing plant environments with heavy machinery, dust, noise, and moving parts.
Travel to client sites, for remote crushing projects in NY, NJ, CT, MA, PA, VA and MD
Participate in training sessions on new equipment technologies and best practices for crushing plant operations to stay current with industry advancements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification, associate degree, or vocational training in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment repair, or related field strongly preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a diesel technician, with proven expertise in stone crushing and screening equipment (e.g., brands like Metso, Sandvik, Terex, McCloskey, or similar).
Demonstrated experience in operating and maintaining crushing plants, including knowledge of plant layout, material handling processes, and production optimization techniques.
In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, advanced hydraulic systems (including pumps, valves, and cylinders), pneumatic controls, and electrical systems (including wiring, sensors, and PLCs) used in stone processing machinery.
Proficiency with a wide range of diagnostic tools, precision measurement instruments, welding equipment, and shop machinery for comprehensive crusher and screen repairs.
Ability to read and interpret complex technical manuals, hydraulic schematics, electrical diagrams, and engineering drawings specific to crushing and screening systems.
Valid driver’s license required; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a significant plus for transporting equipment or operating mobile units.
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on optimizing equipment for stone production efficiency, reducing operational costs, and improving overall crushing plant performance.
Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with plant operators and report on maintenance activities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment, often under tight deadlines.
Physical stamina to handle demanding tasks, including lifting heavy parts (up to 50 lbs.), working in confined spaces, and enduring outdoor conditions in all weather.
Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed to support crushing plant operations.
Benefits
Competitive salary with overtime opportunities.
Medical Plan as dictated by Union agreement
Generous paid time off, sick days, and holidays.
Company-provided uniforms, and safety gear.
