Job Title: Program Counselor
Reports To: Executive Director
Wage: Starting $18.00/hour, subject to commensurate with experience
Schedule: 2:00pm-5:45pm, possibility to sub as needed
Paid Time Off: Accrued sick and personal days, holidays, school break/closures
Qualifications:
Previous experience in childcare or camp counselor role. Positivity, patience, and robust communication skills are necessary. Need to demonstrate maturity, an energetic persona, and be enthusiastic about working with children. Must maintain good physical and mental health with the energy and emotional stability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Maintain positive relationships with Enfield Elementary School families, personnel, and other organizations that ESAP partners with.
· Hold student, community, and program success as a primary goal.
· Demonstrate knowledge and a supportive mindset of working with diverse cultures and populations.
· Provide leadership and serve as a positive role model for students.
· Supervise and interact favorably with children and staff during program hours.
· Supervise activities/stations and support lesson plans.
· Provide academic support to students during designated times.
· Foster the development of a positive self-image and interpersonal relationships with peers and adults by actively engaging students.
· Encourage participation in activities and/or free play.
· Prepare healthy and appropriate snacks for children daily. Know food allergy information.
· Complete light organizational and cleaning duties daily
· Demonstrate the capability to conduct oneself in a calm and professional manner when interacting with staff members, students, caregivers and/or with difficult situations.
· Establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with staff, school district employees/personnel, and partnering organizations.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and/or confidential records.
· Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities.
· Ability to work productively with frequent interruptions.
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
· Ability to bend at waist, crouch, kneel, to reach materials and/or work with students appropriately.
· Implement appropriate student behavior de-escalation and discipline in accordance with policy/procedure.
· Appropriately document all incidents with outlined policy/procedure.
· Remain current with OCFS regulations and compliance and any applicable licensing or accreditation standards.
· Complete a yearly minimum of fifteen training hours.
· Assume additional responsibilities, as necessary.
