McGraw House is an apartment building in downtown Ithaca for income-eligible Senior Citizens. We have a dining service for the residents of McGraw House and their guests.
We have an opening for a Full-Time Assistant Dining Manager. We’re looking for an experienced and mature team player, who is self-motivated, dependable, friendly, well organized, trustworthy, has excellent communication skills, and who works well with senior citizens and teenagers. The Assistant Dining Manager is responsible for preparing and serving dinner and assisting the Dining Manager with related administrative duties.
Schedule: Monday through Friday from 12:00pm to 7:00pm daily.
Pay Rate & Benefits: $20/hour, non-exempt, full time, 35 hours per week. Excellent Medical and Dental Insurance provided with 100% of the premium for individual coverage paid for by the employer, and generous time off with paid holidays, vacation, personal, and sick time.

ASSISTANT DINING MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Dining Manager supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of dining services for the residents of McGraw House and their guests. This full-time, overtime eligible position reports directly to the Dining Manager or the Executive Director when the Dining Manager is unavailable.
General responsibilities – The Assistant Dining Manager works closely with the Dining Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the dining program, handling a variety of tasks ranging from meal preparation, menu planning, purchasing, staff training and supervising, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. The duties include but are not limited to the following:
Prepare and serve nutritious, good quality, affordable, cost-efficient dinners five days a week, Monday through Friday.
Create and execute daily/weekly menu options.
Prepare food and supplies for LUBS Teas, as needed.
Supervise dining staff to ensure all kitchen and dining procedures are thoroughly and competently carried out including dining room set up and clean up, service of the meal, deliveries, and clean-up of the kitchen, etc.
Order all food and dining supplies. Check invoices for accuracy before giving them to the Financial Manager for payment. Maintain adequate inventory to ensure necessary supplies are on hand.
Ensure compliance with the New York State sanitation code and directives in addition to Department of Health regulations.
Ensure compliance with standards set by the NYS Department of Labor
Minimum Qualifications
Prior commercial kitchen management and cooking experience required.
Knowledge and Skills
Ability to make good food consistently. Develop and maintain a positive, friendly, professional, and respectful working relationship with residents, staff, Board, LUBS, and the public. Exercise patience, excellent communication skills and an ability to relate to a wide variety of people. Demonstrate an appreciation for a diverse and inclusive environment. Able to take initiative, work independently and to handle multiple assignments under pressure. Able to competently understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Able to train and supervise tactfully. Maintain confidentiality, and a clean and professional appearance. Able to lift at least 50lbs without assistance. Abide by McGraw House routines, policies, and procedures along with Personnel and Administrative Policies.
