We are located in Ithaca, NY, which is situated on Cayuga Lake as part of New York’s Finger Lakes region.
Practice Overview
Cayuga Pet Hospital is a private, small companion animal hospital. Our focus is preventative care and dental services along with non-emergency care. Our clients love the time we take to educate them on the best care to ensure their pets overall well-being. We value teamwork, collaboration and continuous learning to deliver the best experience to our team and clients.
What You’ll Be Working On
Engaging and communicating with clients
Collecting and maintaining patient information
Perform basic care for patients such as ear cleaning, basic bandage, pedicures and more
Assist the doctor with patient treatments and procedures
Obtain quality samples for diagnostic testing
Perform in-house laboratory procedures to assist in diagnosis and treatment
Capture diagnostic radiographs
Prepare medications (both injections and dispensed medications)
Administer anesthetics or sedatives to control pain under direction of a veterinarian
Assist Client Services Specialist as needed or during absence
Clean, pack and autoclave all surgical materials after use
Perform dental cleanings, radiographs, and dental chartings
Qualifications
Be a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of NY
At least 2-years’ experience preferred
Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays
Experience and Proficiency in Dental Preferred but willing to train someone with a passion for dentistry
Physical Requirements:
o Able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
o Able to be on your feet most of the shift, including bent positions
o Able to kneel, crawl, twist and turn
Proficient with basic computer programs like Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.). Avimark experience desirable.
Familiarity with common medical terminology, instruments, laboratory methods and equipment
Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for providing great customer service
Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt to different work styles and needs
Team player with the ability to work independently on goals and objectives
Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
