Job Description—HIICAP Coordinator

Position Summary
The HIICAP (Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program) Coordinator oversees insurance counseling to those navigating their Medicare coverage and associated costs. The Coordinator typically works with volunteers and staff to provide direct client counseling and outreach. Responsibilities include: direct client counseling; recruiting, training and providing support for HIICAP Volunteer Counselors; outreach and education to the wider community; completing designated reports and making recommendations for improvement; being an active member of the Lifelong staff team.
Essential Job Functions:
Trains and provides support for HIICAP Counselors (volunteer and paid); recruits new HIICAP volunteers.
Organizes and schedules weekly Medicare appointments and Open Enrollment Period clinics
Provides direct client counseling as needed
Organizes and participates in outreach and education events to the community
Enters data as required by funders and other agencies
Prepares and submits reports in a timely manner
Provides quarterly educational opportunities for HIICAP Counselors
Contributes to grants, reports, and written materials on behalf of the Medicare Program
Acts as an ambassador for HIICAP and for Lifelong overall at community events, forums or meetings
Actively participates in and contributes to Lifelong team meetings
Position Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Strong computer and word processing skills and willingness to learn software applications relevant to position
Ability to manage time well; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Experience working with and overseeing volunteers, and knowledge of working with older adults preferred
Familiarity with Medicare preferred
HIICAP Coordinator will need to certify as a HIICAP Counselor (training provided) during the 3 month orientation period of this position, and annually thereafter
Ability to consistently and accurately report data on program; ability to meet deadlines
Willingness to stay abreast of changes in Medicare by attending trainings, conference calls, and webinars, and sharing new information with HIICAP Counselors
Permitted to work in the United States

Salary, Benefits and Location
Non-exempt; $21/hour; 20 hours/week with flexibility in scheduling (with prior agreement from supervisor)
