Description We are seeking a Sr. Accountant to join our growing team. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. As a Sr. Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate transaction processing, monitoring intercompany expenses, and providing support during the financial close process. Responsibilities: Process and input journal entries, particularly related to payroll and fringe benefits. Conduct monthly account analysis for income statement and balance sheet accounts. Monitor intercompany payroll expenses and related fringe benefits for proper billing. Prepare and review cost allocations for timely recording of expenses across agencies and programs. Develop supporting schedules for program budget to actual variances used in preparing monthly Program operations financial narratives. Assist in the preparation of agency budget using financial statements and projected changes and staffing patterns. Support the annual audit process by timely satisfying auditors' sample request and other provide by client (PBC) item assigned by the Accounting Manager/Controller. Assist in the preparation of annual IRS Form 990 and its related salary schedules. Serve as back-up for other accountants' position as needed and determined by the Controller. Engage in special projects as required, including process optimization and system implementation.Requirements Possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector. Should have comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience with journal entries, income statements, and balance sheets. Must have strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and prepare reports. Should be proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy in work is crucial. Must possess strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team are essential. Must adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion. Should be able to adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, statutes, etc. that impact financial decision-making is desirable.
