Job Summary:
This is an Operations management position for an Independent Foodservice Distributor. The Operations Manager is responsible for inbound and outbound warehouse activity, facility management (including building, grounds, sanitation, and equipment), transportation (including routing, delivery, and backhaul) and all operating systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; compliance with government regulations; safety and security of the building, as well as project management. The Operation Manager works non-traditional business hours which can consist of early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call.
Responsibilities
Create and monitor scheduling for warehouse and drivers.
Execute efficient routing/delivery schedules utilizing specialized programs.
Adjust departments’ activities, policies and practices to meet or exceed key performance metrics and customer service level goals and on-time deliveries
Oversees operating budget management including labor, benefits, supplies, company assets, capital investments, maintenance and repair, and third-party contracts.
Performs management functions of staff selection, compensation, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations
Maintains communication through regular department meetings; keeps open communication with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures; monitors associate morale; and implements ideas to improve warehouse efficiency.
Ensures compliance with internal/external policies and regulations by ensuring all the required inspections and audits are completed timely and accurately. Including, but not limited to, food safety documentation, warehouse certifications, DOT records, IFTA, and HUT regulations.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a closely related field. (Preferred but not required)
Experience in both warehouse and transportation
10+ years professional experience (with at least 3-5 years in operational management experience); or equivalent combination of education and experience
