Located on Fort Pond Bay, Duryea’s is a seasonal water-front property in Montauk, NY. It is a destination for locals and tourists alike looking for good food, water views and arguably the greatest sunsets on the East End. With our 300ft dock, Duryea’s has become a favorite amongst boat owners looking to spend time on the water on their way to lunch or dinner. A few feet away from the restaurant is our dynamic, bustling retail market and boutique. Duryea’s Market features a barista station with fresh baked pastries, take out from the restaurant, and offers one stop shopping for a meal at home with local artisanal products. The adjoining boutique is the perfect spot to shop for the summer essentials, chic home décor, and your favorite Duryea’s brand sweatshirt.

Who You Are:

We are looking for a talented and experienced CAFE & MARKET MANAGER who shares our passion for hospitality and thrives in a guest-focused and teamwork-based environment. Applicants that are detail oriented, organized, high energy, and possess an upbeat attitude will be an excellent fit for this position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Maintain daily operation of retail market and meet the expectations of guests and food service standards in terms of appearance, set-up, service and hospitality

Managing front and back of house POS system

Scheduling staff and tracking punctuality

Managing the operation during service hours, supervising staff, and ensuring that service is carried out according to established procedures

Guest relations: answering phones, greeting and serving guests, trouble-shooting guest issues and maintaining the mood of the operation

Operating a register, serving coffee, preparing simple food items, and managing take-out sales from the restaurant. Instructing the rest of the team on steps of service

Act as a liaison between the restaurant and market with respect to take out orders

Mentoring and training new hires; adherence to job performance

Product knowledge; must be prepared to accurately answer guest questions

Ordering inventory, management of receiving weekly deliveries and restocking shelves

Curating and organizing market shelves

Preparing store and advertising displays

Maintaining cleanliness and organization of prep stations

Exhibit Professionalism; proper speech, customer relations and demeanor

Promoting positive public and employee relations at all times and working as a team member

Requirements:

2+ years of progressive FOH experience in a full service, high-volume retail operation

Possess strongly developed and proven leadership and communication skills

Food handling experience

Experience working with POS systems and F&B ordering, inventory and cost control systems

Passion for coffee and local product

Possess strongly developed communication skills

Self-motivated, dedicated team player with positive attitude

Flexible Availability, open to work AM & PM schedules

Must be able to work standing for an extended period of time

COMPENSATION:
