Position Summary: The Credentialing Specialist is primarily responsible for reviewing candidate applications, obtaining necessary references and compiling basic credentialing information to determine if the candidate meets specific company and client requirements. In addition to securing valid references upon initial application, the Specialist is also responsible for securing updated credentials required to ensure compliance with internal policies, state and federal laws, regulations and standards.
Qualifications: The Credentialing Specialist must have a high school diploma (associate or bachelor’s Degree preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Further requirement:

Receives and reviews applications and client requirements and contacts candidates for any additional supporting documentation or clarification
Reviews applications to ensure the candidates meet basic eligibility requirements
Calls supervisors and peers to obtain verbal references for candidates
Effectively communicates with all departments to ensure teamwork and efficiency
Responsible for maintaining and tracking of expiration dates of licenses, certificates, annual physicals, PPD/Chest X-rays, insurance, etc and follows up with staff regarding expiring documents to ensure compliance
Conducts all professional background investigations related to the credentialing of staff such as license verification, professional reference checks, Chauncy Registry, OMIG, OIG, SAM, Sex Offender Registry and other required queries
Records and files all incoming correspondence and documents gathered for the credentialing of staff
Performs audits regarding compliance for all documents required for new applicants and current staff
Assists in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the credentialing systems and other HR functions
Performs other duties as assigned.
