So, I own a professional DJ Entertainment Company. Usually things get slow for most of us in January, at least regarding general parties. Then pick up again in early spring. We also do bars, clubs and lounges, sometimes karaoke in between gigs or when business is not jumping.
Times are definitely changing as this seems to no longer be the case. Now it gets slow even during the holiday season, and it's almost summer before things really pick up. This is unacceptable. I know a lot of Djs as I have been in the business for many years. While some are in the same boat as I am, others are doing fantastic.
When I speak to them, they either don't want to give away their secrets, they are lying OR they will tell me you really need to get out there in public PLUS go all out on Social Media. Get on Instagram, Get on Tic Toc. You should also increase your SEO (search engine optimization) by tagging people, and videos.
Maybe because Im older, not that much, but still, what I have found is that time and true methods that once worked very well, ie: Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace is no longer enough.
So here is exactly what I need and the qualifications necessary to get my DJ business back on its feet
1. A person who is very proficient with social media. Meaning, they can almost do it with their eyes closed. but not just posting pics or vids, this special someone needs to know how to promote my business. Tagging, getting followers, for the record, I have a website, it has plenty of videos of us performing and people dancing, and pics as well. So this person must be able to use social media to get my name out there and the goal is to help generate calls. Once they call me, I know I can close the deal, but if my phone doesnt ring you see what I am saying.
2. Must be very outgoing. If you are shy, you ain't the right girl or guy. Its that simple. The reason for this will be explained in number 3
3. You must have your own form of transportation and be willing to travel to bars, clubs, lounges and even catering halls, have the ability to get past the gate keepers (ie: Bartenders, Secretaries or other people who don't actually possess the ability to hire us), and not only talk to those in charge, but convince them that its in their best interest to call us and use our services. In fact, you should make them feel that they are absolutely crazy and stupid and that their business will be ruined if they dont call us immediately. THATS the kind of person I need for this position.
4. Their are going to be times (Even if I went) where they may say let me think about it. (You cant get them all. or can you?) You must be able to take notes, and call the people back and do follow ups. Consistency and Persistency is the key!
Your salary or commission will be discussed over the phone. I ask that you call me. If you text me, I am going to assume you don't know how to have a normal conversation and therefore you don't qualify. Oh! One final note I understand it says that I reside in Mastic Beach, but that doesn’t mean that’s where you will be working or where you have to go … as long as you are in the Long Island or New York metropolitan area that’s fine. I just wanted to clear that up
