Summary:
The Territory Sales Representative will develop and execute a sales strategy to increase distribution, placement, and brand awareness of 39th Parallel Rye Whiskey across Long Island and New York City. The role involves relationship-building with on- and off-premise accounts (bars, restaurants, retailers, liquor stores, etc.), managing distributor partnerships, conducting tastings/events, achieving sales targets, and ensuring the brand is well represented in all key channels.
Key Responsibilities:
-Develop and execute territory sales plans to meet or exceed sales goals (volume, revenue, placements) for 39th Parallel Rye Whiskey.
-Identify, contact, and win new accounts (liquor stores, restaurants, bars, hotels, etc.) for product placement and listings.
-Grow business in existing accounts: maintain and increase shelf space, optimize product displays, ensure proper inventory/depletions.
-Work closely with distributors and wholesalers to ensure stock availability, compliance with local regulations, and support promotional programs.
-Conduct tastings, brand education sessions, training for retail staff / bartenders / servers to build product knowledge and enthusiasm.
-Monitor competition: pricing, promotions, new product entrants, market trends. Provide feedback to brand management.
-Execute marketing activations, promotional events, product launches within the territory.
-Maintain accurate reporting: sales forecasts, pipeline, account status, expense reports.
-Ensure merchandising standards are met (signage, POS materials, display fixtures).
-Travel within territory regularly; attend trade shows or industry events when appropriate.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
-Experience of beverage alcohol sales (spirits preferred).
-Strong relationships (or proven ability to build relationships) with on- and off-premise accounts in Long Island / NYC.
-Understanding of the local liquor regulatory environment (NYC/NY State / Long Island).
-Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
-Self-motivated, results driven, able to work independently in the field.
-Comfortable with travel and flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, events).
-Strong organizational skills – able to manage multiple accounts, priorities, reporting.
-Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred:
-Prior experience with rye whiskey or similar spirit brands.
-Experience with marketing activations and event planning.
-Knowledge of consumer trends in craft/whiskey/spirit categories.
-Experience with sales software / CRM tools.
Important Information:
Base salary plus commission.
Some evening and weekend work required (events, tastings, account visits).
Frequent travel within Long Island and throughout NYC.
