Automotive Technician (Engine Repair Specialist)

Key Responsibilities:

Engine Diagnostics: Utilize diagnostic tools to identify engine problems, including issues with performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions.

Engine Repair and Rebuild: Perform complex repairs and rebuilds on various engine types (gasoline, diesel, hybrid), including cylinder heads, pistons, and crankshafts.

Routine Maintenance: Conduct routine engine maintenance services, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tune-ups to ensure optimal performance.

Component Replacement: Replace faulty engine components, including fuel injectors, timing belts, and exhaust systems, ensuring all repairs meet manufacturer specifications.

Testing and Quality Control: Run tests on repaired engines to ensure they meet safety and performance standards before returning vehicles to customers.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of diagnostics, repairs performed, and parts used for each vehicle serviced.

Customer Communication: Explain engine issues and repair options to customers, providing clear estimates and timelines for service completion.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an automotive technology program with a focus on engine repair is preferred.

Experience: Previous experience as an automotive technician, particularly with engine repair, is highly desirable.

Certifications: ASE certification in Engine Repair or equivalent is preferred.

Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift heavy engine components, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.

Work Environment:

Automotive technicians primarily work in repair shops or service centers, often exposed to noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
