Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in our manufacturing industry based in New Hartford, New York. This role involves handling a high volume of invoices, performing account reconciliations, and maintaining accurate records. Responsibilities: Handle the data entry of invoices and check statements, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Match invoices to receipts and purchase orders, and secure approval for items without a purchase order. Collaborate with internal team members to manage vendor-specific invoices, including freight, benefits, and intercompany. Conduct necessary journal entries at the end of each month to account for invoices not entered into the system. Perform simple reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of accounting records. Utilize ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and other accounting software systems to streamline accounting functions. Apply knowledge of accrual accounting in managing accounts payable. Adhere to auditing principles to ensure the integrity of the accounts payable process. Process transactions through Automated Clearing House (ACH) when required. Utilize account coding skills to categorize transactions accurately. Requirements Proven experience in the Manufacturing industry, specifically as an Accounts Payable Specialist Comprehensive knowledge of Account Coding and its applications in accounting Proficiency in using Accounting Software Systems for various accounting functions Familiarity with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and their role in managing accounting functions Demonstrated skills in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and understanding of Accrual Accounting Experience in auditing and ability to identify and rectify discrepancies in accounts Knowledge of Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions and their role in financial operations Ability to deliver accurate work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
