Clinical Lead

The Clinical Lead works closely with the Clinical Supervisor and/or Practice Manager, clinical and administrative staff, and physicians. The Clinical Lead will be responsible for coordinating the day to day functions of the clinical team. Participates in the multi-disciplinary process of providing care and treatment to patients and provides clinical support and technical assistance to the professional medical and administrative staff. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead Responsibilities

Coordinates daily task assignments for clinical staff; prepare weekly schedule, handle staff call outs and adjust daily schedules as appropriate

Ensures availability and operation of necessary clinical equipment and supplies. Monitor and order clinical supplies, as necessary.

Effectively intercedes with family and patients and resolve concerns related to the delivery of health care services.

Collaborates with management on projects and issue resolution to improve workflow processes.

Responsible for the prevention and control of infections, in accordance with recommendations from Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), NYDOH and the standards set by AAAASF.

Advises and consults with physicians, nurses and other clinical personnel concerning precautions to be taken to protect patients, staff and others from possible contamination or infection.

Coordinates the care for persons exposed to an infection or infectious disease.

Provides support and mentoring to employees.

Assists with proper care and management of equipment, refrigerators, thermometers, etc.

Assists with medication management, including inventory, ordering and safety.

Provides training to new employees and ensure staff is cross-trained as appropriate.

Provides support and mentoring to employees.

Reviews each employee’s current process and re-educate staff as needed

Provides feedback to Clinical Supervisor/Practice Manager regarding staff performance

Assists with coordinating coverage due to staff call outs

Clinical

Assists physicians with patient office visits, including putting patients in rooms, interviewing patients, recording vital signs including pulse rate, blood pressure, height, and weight, and enters information in the patient's electronic medical record.

Assists providers with various medical procedures as appropriate.

Performs various clinical tests

Manages and operate equipment safely and correctly.

Participates in the controlled substance count conducted daily.

Observes, records, and reports any changes in patients’ condition during office visit.

Demonstrates appropriate use of Red Bag Waste.

Gathers and inputs the patient’s medical, social and family history into the EMR.

Labels and processes patient specimens as needed, including tracking specimens in appropriate logs.

Organizes exam rooms, including general cleaning, upkeep, and re-stocking of supplies.

Fields patient telephone calls, determines the nature and urgency of a problem, and provides directions for the level of care required.

Demonstrates appropriate hand washing technique to ensure proper infection control and follows universal precautions.

Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

Reviews hospital discharge logs to ensure all patients discharged from the hospital have a follow-up appointment scheduled in the office

Responsible for prescription refills

Schedules follow up appointments, nurse visits and other appointments as needed.

May be responsible for approving payroll, monitoring overtime, and approving paid time off requests.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Current CMA, Surgical Tech or NYS LPN/RN license required.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a clinical role with solid performance

Current Infection Control Certificate is required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to collect clinical data and information to provide nursing care based on individual patient needs.

Must demonstrate an understanding of clinical risk.

Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.

Familiarity with EMR systems necessary.

Travel to any of the Premier Medical Group locations will be required upon request.
