Associate (The Carlyle Group Employee Co. LLC –New York, NY); Multiple positions available. Perform critical assessment of key drivers of value for a wide range of illiquid investments. This includes the analysis of key drivers of company’s fundamentals to identify major potential issues and significant risks and present such findings to both internal and external stakeholders. Deliver valuation analyses on the illiquid Private Credit investment portfolio on a quarterly basis, highlight trends in company financial performance, macroeconomic environment, and interest rate forward curves. Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Global Technology Solutions, Operations and Fund Management to maintain and enhance a database of key investment metrics. Monitor the closing and funding of new and existing investments at both position and company/fund levels by obtaining investment approvals and incremental capital commitments from key strategic partners. Construct investment portfolios for key strategic partners, track portfolio investments, and ensure compliance with Limited Partner investment guidelines and concentration limits. Facilitate the quarterly portfolio review process through collaboration with peers in the Direct Lending team to gauge potential weakness in portfolio investments through assessment of company financial performance, liquidity profile, covenant levels, and the assignment of appropriate risk ratings.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, or a related financial/quantitative field and 3 years of experience with Credit Analysis, Portfolio Management, and/or Leveraged Lending at a financial institution or asset manager. Must have 3 years of experience in each of the following: Monitoring, tracking, and presenting the financial performance trends of borrowers; Running sensitivity analysis for the Covenant cushions around EBITDA, Total Net Leverage and Interest Coverage ratios for borrowers; Preparing individual borrower presentations for senior management with overviews of financial performance and key terms; and Analyzing borrower legal documents including credit agreements. Experience may be gained concurrently.
