Desk Analyst (Pacific Investment Management Company, LLC (PIMCO) – New York, NY); Multiple positions available: Offered salary range of $160,000 to $200,000 per year. Assist in sourcing, evaluating, and structuring a range of potential investments including, but not limited to: unsecured consumer loans, aircraft leases, equipment leases, life settlements, royalty streams, SME loans, trade finance, litigation finance, and regulatory capital transactions. Prepare presentations and make recommendations to senior Portfolio Managers and Fund Investment Committees on investment opportunities. Execute trading for a variety of portfolios across the firm, including primary and secondary market transactions in instruments such as cash bonds and fixed income derivatives; conduct mathematical modeling by assessing portfolio risk, position weights, and performance against client guidelines and benchmarks, and rebalancing portfolios to target weights. Generate and implement investment strategies that enhance portfolio returns and mitigate risk, and communicate these ideas internally to relevant stakeholders. Value fixed income securities by analyzing underlying factors such as individual security fundamentals, credit reports, liquidity, relative value, and embedded options. Prepare daily research notes and frequent intra-day updates on market developments, news, prices, liquidity, investment sentiment, and trading volumes. Conduct macroeconomic and market research that supports development of the firm’s short and long-term economic and investment forecasts. Support business development by educating colleagues in client division on market conditions, investment strategies, and performance. Develop and manage relationships with broker-dealer firms to achieve the best execution of transactions and drive investment performance.

Requires a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Financial Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. Education, training, or experience must include: C, C, Python, C#, Matlab, or JavaScript; financial modeling using MS Excel and VBA; obtaining and analyzing data from Bloomberg or similar third party source; Natural Language Processing; and presenting investment recommendations to clients or portfolio managers. Experience may be gained concurrently.
