Nassau County Modern Orthodox Synagogue is seeking an Office Administrator/Bookkeeper to join our team. Familiarity with the basic structures and systems of synagogue life, such as a general understanding of the Jewish calendar is preferable.
POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES:
As our Office Administrator/Bookkeeper you will play a pivotal role in managing diverse responsibilities including:
Accurately processing and recording all transactions
Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
Review and ensure all payments and deposits for accuracy
Maintain the synagogue’s books and records in ShulCloud
Engage with synagogue members via in-person, phone, and email
Process credit cards and check payments and post to appropriate member accounts
Post membership and other charges to Shulcloud as needed
Collections - ensuring collections processes are set up correctly for membership and events, and timely payments are made by synagogue members
Assist with budget preparation and forecasting
Assist with ad-hoc reporting as needed
Be responsible for purchasing and inventorying all office supplies and equipment.
Ensure that all mailings are prepared and sent out on time.
Manage work within the office across the office staff to maximize efficiency.
Serve as a Liaison between the Rabbi and the membership
Create and maintain Pre-Holiday checklists
Assist in the preparation, scheduling and printing of synagogue publications.
Organize and maintain electronic databases and manage file system.
Manage priority tasks and support administrative needs of the Office.
Field all phone calls and direct to appropriate parties as needed.
Oversee and coordinate mailings, such as gift acknowledgments, and other correspondence with the community.
QUALIFICATIONS & IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with a broad-based synagogue membership
Good understanding of a non-profit organization
Proficiency in Excel and Word is required
Knowledge of ShulCloud strongly desired
Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality
Required to be on-site, hours are Monday - Thursday 9am-5pm, Friday 9-2pm
