Primary purpose:
Create a flexible 3K program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth
Establish effective rapport with students. Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper grade education in accordance with each student’s ability. Establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associates degree in Early Childhood Education and
2. Currently on a study plan approved by an accredited college or university OR
3. Currently on a study plan for ECE (or related field of study)with 90 or more undergraduate college credits and 1 year classroom experience teaching Early Childhood Education
OR
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education with 2 years teaching experience OR
2. Valid NYS teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education: Birth – Grade 2;
Nursery-6; or Pre-K - 6
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to students in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the Department of Education, and other appropriate learning
activities.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
Uses a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the
available time for instruction.
Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records.
Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive
displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
