Remains Lighting is a dynamic and environmentally committed 20+ year old New York company specializing in high-end metalwork fabrication and antique restoration for the architecture and interior design community. We operate out of our 20,000 square foot, solar powered, LEED Gold factory in Bushwick.
We’re looking for a highly motivated Product Design Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering and Product Design department. If you have an interest in material science, complex mechanical design, and are passionate about sustainability issues, drop us a line. Key Responsibilities
- Interpreting custom light fixture design and construction from sketches and estimate sheets.
- Communicating with internal and external vendors to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM).
- Producing quality parts and assemblies in SolidWorks to create functional and aesthetically pleasing product models.
- Producing clear and accurate client approval, fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings.
- Entering data from SolidWorks to ERP system for production to ensure accurate BOMs and streamline production planning.
- Assessing fixture design at assembly and revising as necessary.
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience making parts and assemblies in SolidWorks
- Comfort with prototyping and hands-on work
- Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Strong, quick, computer skills. Experience with common MS office programs (Word, Excel).
- Interest in manufacturing and metalworking processes
Preferred (Highly Desirable):
- Knowledge of existing incandescent and LED lighting technologies.
- Metal shop experience (welding, machining, etc.)
- Experience creating manufacturing drawings
- Ability to produce quick hand sketches to demonstrate concepts
- Experience in Zbrush, Blender, or other 3D sculpting software
- 3D printing experience
