The team
We're looking for a collaborative Analytical and Computational Linguist who can work in-house on a contract basis with our Natural Language Processing team based in New York City. We use a combination of machine learning, deep learning, and pattern-based methods to drive our high quality writing feedback. Linguists are essential to improving the quality of our checks, developing training and evaluation sets for our statistical approaches, and conducting user experiments. The team you will be partnering with is critical to moving forward data-driven approaches.
Your scope
Work with our NLP research and product teams on key tasks (e.g., annotating content, performing data quality control).
Working within a suite of AI and NLP QC tools including SpaCy and NLPK
Involvement in the development of deep learning algorithms and NLP in expanding the central browser plugin
Evolve and prioritize ongoing working processes associated with our data and annotation needs, (i.e., annotation guideline development, data development, etc.).
QA and QC support in tandem with Machine Learning Development teams.
Scripting/coding withJavascript and Python in translating and annotating catalog phrases between expansive databases.
Work with product teams to improve the feedback we provide to our users (e.g., oversee portions of our annotation projects with external vendors, problem solve where to focus product improvement efforts).
This is the right opportunity for you if
You have a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. degree in linguistics.
You have at least 2 years of industry experience as an Analytical and/or Computational Linguist.
Experience working with Artificial Intelligence and/or in a Machine Learning and Deep Learning environment.
You are a team player who enjoys annotation, evaluation, and data quality work.
You have experience with scripting languagesin a Linux environment.
You have some experience with research processes and qualitative and quantitative approaches.
You have some experience with crowdsourcing and/or vendor management.
You are able to speak and write English fluently with an excellent grasp of English grammar and communication.
