The AM Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to recipes and standards set by the restaurant. This role requires maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and efficiency during morning operations.
Responsibilities:
Prepare ingredients for breakfast dishes, including chopping vegetables, portioning proteins, and preparing sauces or batters.
Ensure that all prep work is completed before the start of service.
Cook a variety of breakfast items such as eggs, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and other menu items.
Work various stations on the line, such as the grill, griddle, stove, or fryer, depending on the menu and kitchen setup.
Ensure that all food is cooked to the appropriate temperature and presented according to the establishment's standards.
Be thoroughly familiar with the breakfast menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation standards.
Accommodate special requests and dietary restrictions, ensuring that modifications are made correctly.
Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation, ensuring that each dish leaving the kitchen meets these standards.
Taste food as needed to ensure it meets quality standards.
Manage time effectively to ensure that food is prepared and plated in a timely manner, especially during peak breakfast hours.
Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure that orders are completed simultaneously for a smooth service.
Maintain a clean and organized work station throughout the shift, following all health and safety regulations.
Properly store food items in compliance with food safety standards, including labeling and dating prepared items.
Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating stock as needed.
Properly use and maintain kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and knives.
Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient breakfast service.
Communicate effectively with the front-of-house staff to ensure that any issues with orders or timing are addressed promptly.
Be prepared to adjust to changes in the menu, special events, or unexpected rushes in customer traffic.
Assist with other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as an AM line cook.
Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
