Position Overview:

The Porter plays a crucial role in the daily operations of La Farine. This position ensures seamless workflow for our culinary team by maintaining the highest levels of cleanliness in both kitchen and guest areas. The role requires speed, attention to detail, and consistent focus. Porters contribute to food preparation indirectly by keeping equipment, tools, and workspaces clean and ready, and by assisting with product packaging.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

Maintain a clean, organized, and fully functional kitchen environment, including daily cleaning of equipment, floors, surfaces, and tools.

Keep the guest area tidy and welcoming throughout service hours.

Manage dishwashing efficiently, ensuring an ongoing supply of clean trays, bowls, utensils, and baking tools.

Follow strict sanitation and safety procedures that meet New York City Department of Health standards.

Assist with pastry and bread packaging, ensuring products are handled carefully and presented to bakery standards.

Work with speed and accuracy during peak hours while prioritizing cleanliness and safety at all times.

Follow instructions precisely and maintain consistent accountability for assigned tasks.

Skills & Requirements:

Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability.

Ability to work fast without compromising quality or cleanliness.

Physically capable of repetitive motion, standing for long periods, and lifting heavy items when needed.

Able to work independently without constant supervision.

Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment care, or kitchen maintenance is a plus.

NYC Food Protection Certification is a plus.

Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where expectations are clearly communicated and consistently enforced.

Schedule Requirements:

Full-time applicants must have full availability for both morning and evening shifts across all 7 days of the week.

There is no set weekly schedule; shift times change weekly based on business needs.

Full availability for weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) is required.

Compensation & Benefits:

$18–$20/hour, based on experience, skill, and ability to meet performance expectations.
