Job Title: Barista/Expo

Compensation: $21.00/hour

Status: Part-Time

Location: Manhattan - Paramount Plaza - 1633 Broadway New York, 10019

About Us:

Din Tai Fung is a Chinese restaurant specializing in Xiao Long Bao, or steamed soup dumplings, each made by hand with our “Golden Ratio” of 18 folds. Originally founded in Taiwan as a cooking oil retail business in 1958, Din Tai Fung was reborn as a dumpling and noodle restaurant in 1972. Since its founding, Din Tai Fung has become world-renowned for its quality, standardization, and service. About the Role:

Baristas / Expos are responsible for making all drinks in the Boba department, plating all the appetizer items, and packing takeout orders according to Din Tai Fung’s established recipes and SOP’s. Baristas / Expos are also responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Boba, Side Station, and Packing stations, taking regular inventory, and restocking necessary items within the Server Alley, Barista, Side Station, and Expo areas.

Job Responsibilities & Tasks:

Barista Functions

Makes all drinks within the Barista station according to Din Tai Fung’s established recipes and SOP’s

Plates and garnishes the drinks in accordance with Din Tai Fung’s guidelines

Cleans, organizes and maintains the Barista station

Takes inventory of the items and restocking items as necessary

Assists with packing takeout orders

Labels all items in accordance with Health Department regulations and Din Tai Fung procedures

Attends monthly staff meetings

SSA Functions

Plates the appetizers in accordance with Din Tai Fung’s plating guidelines

Keeps the Side Station clean, organized, and sanitized

Takes inventory and restocks necessary items for the Packing station

Labels all items in accordance with Health Department regulations and Din Tai Fung procedures

Attends monthly staff meetings

Expo Functions

Handles and coordinates all of the takeout orders for the restaurant

Packs takeout orders according to Din Tai Fung Takeout Packing SOP’s

Takes inventory and restocks necessary items for the Packing station

Labels all items in accordance with Health Department regulations and Din Tai Fung procedures

Attends monthly staff meetings

Supporting Functions:

Prepares ginger dishes, water glasses, water carafes, and restocks the server alley throughout service.

Refills and wipes dine-in soy sauce bottles and vinegar bottles throughout the shift.

Create ginger dishes and fold white linen napkins for dine-in guests throughout the shift

Keeps all Barista/Expo/SSA areas clean and sanitized

Organizes items within the walk-in coolers and freezers

Lifts/moves boxes, bags, chairs, and tables (up to 50 pounds)

Assists with regular deep cleaning of the kitchen
