Position Overview: We are seeking a friendly and reliable counterhand to join our bakery team and provide exceptional customer service to our patrons. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baked goods, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Greet customers with a warm and welcoming attitude, providing assistance and answering any questions they may have about our products.

Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring order accuracy and timeliness.

Assist customers in selecting bakery items, offering recommendations, and providing information about ingredients and allergens.

Package bakery items neatly and securely for takeout orders, ensuring presentation meets company standards.

Operate cash register and handle cash transactions accurately, processing payments and providing change as needed.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery counter and display cases, including restocking baked goods and cleaning surfaces regularly.

Monitor inventory levels of baked goods and inform management of any shortages or replenishment needs.

Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures at all times, including maintaining proper temperature controls for perishable items.

Assist in opening and closing duties, including setting up the bakery counter and cleaning equipment and work areas.

Collaborate with bakery staff to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow, communicating any customer feedback or special requests.

Stay updated on bakery products, promotions, and specials to effectively upsell and cross-sell to customers.

Uphold company policies and standards regarding quality, cleanliness, and customer service.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in customer service or retail, preferably in a bakery or food service environment.

Basic coffee experience required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.

Basic math skills and proficiency in handling cash transactions.

Attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality products and service.

Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.

New York Food Handlers’ License is a plus.

Part-Time - Counterhand – 20-30 hrs (available some weekends & evenings)

NoMad -

15 East 28th St.

Part-Time - Counterhand – 15-25 hrs (some weekend availability required)

Compensation:

$17 per hour + tips, paid weekly.
