Job Title: Barista / Pastry-prep

L'avion Café is a vibrant and busy "aviation-inspired" coffee, pastry and sandwich shop which recently opened in Yorkville (UES). We take pride in serving high-quality coffees and specialty coffee drinks, pastries, sandwiches, and in delivering first-class service in a warm, whimsical and welcoming atmosphere.
We are seeking an seasoned Barista to join our team. At L'Avion, you will play a key role in preparing and serving specialty coffees, pastries and select sandwiches, while offering top-notch customer service. If you are passionate about coffee and food, have a friendly and outgoing personality, and enjoy working in a small team environment, we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :
- Greet patrons in a friendly and welcoming manner, take orders, and process transactions accurately.
- Set up and breakdown coffee stations and machines
- Set up and breakdown pastry displays daily
- Prepare and serve a variety of specialty coffee beverages with precision and consistency.
- Assist in daily baking and fresh sandwich prep.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all equipment, service counters, customer areas and food-prep areas.
- Stock daily product deliveries in rotation.
- Conduct inventory as needed, including coffee, syrups, milks, foods, and supplies.
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times.
Qualification Requirements:
- NYC Food Handler's Certificate (Required/Must).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience making food & coffee based drinks.
- Exceptional knowledge of coffee preparation techniques including latte art.
- Warm and engaging customer service and communication skills.
- A positive attitude and a respectful work ethic.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
