We are looking for a driver/market staff backup to help with our weekly set-up and delivery from LIC to multiple Farmers markets in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Ideal candidate is someone who is a confident NYC driver in good standing, a highly organized and a good multitasker, has experience in hospitality/restaurants/farmers markets, and who has good people skills.
Our markets are Saturday and Wednesday, and we are looking for a reliable person to become part of our team setting up and breaking down the markets, offering support to staff for their breaks, and assisting in any market-related tasks.
Hours are: Saturday, 5am-5pm, includes multiple markets in Manhattan and Brooklyn
Wed hours are: 1:30-5pm, one market only in Manhattan
Saturday role includes: early morning pack-up in LIC, driving to multiple markets to set-up stands, supporting market staff during their shifts, breakdown the tents/pack-up markets, and bring back to our kitchen/storage. A 30 minute break will be included in the pay for the day.
Wednesday role includes afternoon working at the market, breakdown at 3:30, returning to kitchen and unpacking.
Ideal candidate:
must have experience with managing and delivery. A confident NYC driver, and have a drivers license in good standing. Wednesday we have a small van however, if you have a larger vehicle to use on Saturday, we will cover the cost for gas per mileage, and will add you to insurance. This job requires driving to and from farmers markets to our kitchen, and returning at the end of the market day to unload.
This role also require partial hours at the stand to support market staff/to cover if staff leave or on break. Customer service/restaurant or bar/ retail experience is essential, unless you already have farmers market experience to understand how to work with a wide group of the public audience.
Be highly organized to prepare for each week's markets. Throughout the year we have different options and bring different things to the market, each market has a checklist of items it must have including signs, bags, tablecloths, etc. Both packing and unpacking should be done in an organized way, with replenishing signs/bags for the following week's markets.
Early morning travel from LIC to markets on Wednesday and Saturday. Packing and returning items and van to bakery in LIC in the early afternoon. We are located off the 7 train in LIC.
Role requires heavy lifting, setting up tent, working year-round in outdoor weather conditions.
Our customers like to engage with us on our products, methods, and ingredients, so an interest in gluten-free/vegan food or seasonal eating is a plus but not a requirement. This job will be a paid on payroll weekly.
