JOB DESCRIPTION
The Ovenly Manager is a full time position that will oversee the front and back house. They will display outstanding customer service as well as model and train exemplary service to the Ovenly retail team. They also will manage the day-to-day administrative duties associated with the front and back of the house as well as work retail shifts, as needed.
This position requires close attention to detail, creativity, and quick problem-solving skills. We are looking for a proactive go-getter who is motivated, dependable, and energetic and who wants to grow with us. This is an ideal position for someone who is passionate about food (baked goods especially!) and coffee.
RESPONSIBILITIES
People
- Motivates and manages bakeshop teams, including HR and personnel issues
- Interview, hire, train, and schedule staff (front and back of house)
- Approve timecards and process weekly payroll
- Coaches in the moment, as needed
- Embodies Ovenly values, demonstrates quality service, and promotes bottom-up management models
- Helps the team to stay connected to the heart of the work and find ways to improve it continually
Operations, Sales, and Administration
- Oversees and continuously improve retail operations (front & back of house)
- Oversees and manages the budget
- Creates and implements sales strategies
- Ensures in-store marketing campaigns are communicated and successfully implemented
- Increases sales and exceeds sales goals
- Partner with the kitchen production team for seasonal products or offerings
- Ensure ingredient lists, licenses, and all inspection items are in order and up to date according to DOH guidelines
- Ensures standards are held to the highest level possible
- Coordinates logistics for orders
- Conduct weekly inventory and ordering
- Resolves patron complaints and concerns; proactively anticipates issues and takes steps to remedy potential issues
- Proactively anticipates and remedies training, staffing, and customer issues
- Updates technologies and increases efficiency through them
- Analyze sales and products to identify/implement business opportunities
- Work closely with the kitchen production team and know how to support (and step in) when needed
- Builds relationships, creatively engages the community, and demonstrates/ensures exemplary customer service for Ovenly patrons, including answering questions and speaking knowledgeably about products

Requirements
- Timeliness
- Flexibility in scheduling hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Fluent in English both written and spoken
- Attention to detail, ambitious, goal-oriented and self-starting
- Ability to provide proof of authorization to work in the US
- Must have or obtain NYC Food Handler’s license
- 2+ years of retail/hospitality experience with a strong preference for coffee, food & beverage
- 2+ years of retail management experience leading a team of 10+ people
- Comfortable using technology for sales and work, especially Square and Google for Business
