Both roles require a NYC DOHMH food handlers certificate. Qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview between Saturday 10/11 and Tuesday 10/14.
Pay ranges from $17.50 to $20/hour, based on experience. Potential for tips during food festivals and pop-up events only
Schedule & Timing - Must Have Open Availability
- Must be available to work 6:30AM-6PM on most days. Schedule will vary based on event, and catering needs
- Must be available to start right away
- 35 hours/week
Position 1) As the prep cook, you will be responsible for preparing a selection meats, fruits and vegetables while maintaining flavor quality, great customer service, and cleanliness of your work environment. You will be responsible for ensuring we are always prepared and ready to meet customer needs
Responsibilities
- Prepare all products following directions and recipes exactly
- Work fast and clean as you go
- Stay compliant with NYC DOHMH food safety standards and regulations
- Collaborate with the kitchen team (Catering & Events coordinator and Fulfilment Coordinator & Cashier)to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner
- Maintain inventory and communicate supply shopping needs accordingly so we are never sold out
- Be a team player
Skills, Interests & Experience Required
- Experience working Caribbean & South American food
- 3-5 year experience working in catering, fast pace restaurant, food festivals, stadium concessions or food production environment preferred
- Ability to handle various commercial kitchen equipment effectively
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Must have Food Handlers Certificate
- Must be available to work early & on weekends
- Ability to commute to East Flatbush
Position 2) As the order packer and food runner you will assist in packing orders and ensuring orders are presentable and properly labeled and handed off to correct customers or delivery personnel. You will also be fulfilling orders and taking payment during events and pop-ups. As needed you will need to assist with preparing product, setting up at pop-ups and maintaining the cleanliness of the workspace/kitchen.
Skills, Interests & Experience Required
- 2-3 year experience cashiering and working food, festivals, stadium concessions or food production environment preferred
- Strong customer service skills
- Must be comfortable in commercial kitchen setting
- Must have Food Handlers Certificate
- Must have flexible schedule & be available to work on weekends
- Ability to commute to East Flatbush
